Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

RYLA is an event conducted in order to bring forth the leadership qualities of participants and motivate them to develop some important personal skills which would prove to be very important in their future. As conducted every year, this year’s RYLA would also be based on a particular theme i.e. “Science and Spirituality”.
This main theme is further divided into 6 sub themes as follows:-
1) Human Welfare based on applications of Science and Spirituality.
2) Youth involvement in scientific inventions and spiritual practices.
3) Creativity and innovations blending science and spirituality.
4) Humanity, Happiness, Love and Sacrifice as virtues.
5) Ancient Scriptures, Wisdom and Modern Science for sustainability.
6) Intelligent Quotient (IQ), Emotional Quotient (EQ), Spiritual Quotient (SQ) for Human Resource Development.

The event would be conducted in 3 rounds as given below:-

For the 1st round, the registered groups are requested to submit a creative poster/painting/sketch/digital poster/collage of photographs/wall hanging/any other paper art on a half imperial (i.e. A3 size) sheet on the day of the event. The piece of art has to be presented in front of the jury members. Your work must be completely based on any one of the six themes mentioned above.

For the 2nd round, topics based on the overall theme and sub-themes would be given to the teams for debating by the judges on the spot. Which team would speak for, and which team would speak against, would be decided by a ’Toss’ of coin. Both teams would be given 20 minutes for preparation and then the actual debates will take place. Time for the debate would be 10 to 15 minutes inclusive of views put forth by both teams.

For 3rd and the last round, the participants from the qualified groups would have to individually give a speech in front of the entire audience. The communicator has the choice to select any one language from English/Marathi/Hindi for his speech. However, mixing of languages is not allowed and if such case is spotted, he/she would be disqualified. The duration of the speech should be minimum 2.5 minutes but should not exceed 4 minutes.
